The North American black bear (Ursus americanus) occurs
throughout much of CA and western Nevada usually in mountainous
areas over 3,000 feet in elevation.
Males in the Tahoe Basin weigh an average of 350 pounds, while females average about 250. However, individuals over 600 pounds have been documented. Black bears aren’t only black in color; they range from blonde to black. |
